US K1 Fiancé Visa for Thai

This type of US visa is for the foreign fiancée who goes to the US to get married with her American fiancé. The K1 Visa is valid for 90 days and within this validity period the marriage should be consummated so that the immigration status of the bride can be adjusted accordingly. This allows her to stay in the US for good until she receives her permanent residence status aka Green Card Status.

The K1 Visa takes 4-6 months to complete of which USCIS evaluation of the petition is taking the bulk of the processing period.

The K1 Visa process involves two steps:

1. Filing of the USCIS petition – The American fiancé should lodge a petition to the USCIS for the foreign fiancé. It takes 2-3 months for the USCIS to process the petition upon receipt of the petition. If the petition is approved, the next step of the K1 Visa process can be started.

2. Interview at the US Embassy in Bangkok – The National Visa Center will notify the US embassy in Bangkok in regards to the approved petition and the latter in turn will contact you, the visa applicant, for the submission of your visa application and your interview. Upon submission of the visa application and attending the interview, the visa is granted on the same day or if not you will be asked to come back to pick up your visa.

US K3 Marriage Visa

The Spouse of a US citizen can go to the US to live with her American spouse through K3 Marriage Visa. Once this visa is obtained, the foreign spouse is entitled to a 2-year multiple entry stay in the US. After two years she will be conferred a green status allowing her to stay in the US permanently provided of course that she meets the US immigration requirements.

The K3 Visa takes 6-9 months to complete.

2. Interview at the US Embassy in Bangkok – The US embassy in Bangkok will be contacting the foreign spouse to advise her about the documents expected from her, submission of these documents and interview with the visa officer at the embassy. Upon the successful submission of the required documents and the interview, the visa is granted on the same day or if not the applicant will be asked to come back the next day to pick up her visa.
